Grand Canal Royal Blue
During my stay in Venice, I made sure to take advantage of each of the sunrises and sunsets for some incredible backdrops to the city’s architecture, but my work did not stop there. I wanted to photograph in much darker conditions to take full advantage of the city’s artificial glow from the ornate lamps and lit-up docking stations on the canal.
Getting up several hours before sunrise, I made my way to Accademia Bridge and positioned myself facing towards the domes of the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and where the Grand Canal meets the open waters of the sea.
At this hour, the sky was clouded over and a deep shade of royal blue. The waters of the canal were calm and glossy, allowing the reflection of the streetlamps to bleed onto the water’s surface and further illuminate the intricate window frames of the buildings on the waterfront.
Grand Canal Royal Blue is a beautiful landscape print of deep contrasting blue, yellow and gold which adds immediate impact to any interior.
