Merida Shades of Sunset

from £30.00

Merida Shades of Sunset captures the aftermath of a particularly heavy downpour in Merida, the vibrant capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán. The rain created a flash flood and I was able to capture the streets while they were still submerged in water.

As the sun revealed itself from the passing storm clouds, the buildings were once more illuminated, showing the architectural straight lines contrasting with the soft ripples of the water. This combination of structure and fluidity within the image, gives it its namesake, creating a glassy mirror effect.

The colour blocking of blood-red, rust orange and balmy yellows set against a moody sky make this a great flash of rustic colour for a blank space.

Merida Shades of Sunset is a limited-edition portrait print showcasing the versatility of the Mexican rainy season, capturing the country in a non-traditional setting.
