Iceland
When it comes to iconic landscapes, Iceland is a photographer’s playground. My gallery of Iceland Photography Prints shows a range of urban, landscape and travel documentary images from my work assignment there.
Reykjavik is the beating heart of the island and I, like many, used it as my base. The capital has a robustness that is reflected in the strong architecture and sculpture, and there is a lot of personality to be found in the practical durability of this urban hub.
The short days and low arc of the sun meant that the light was never flat, and I could use the clouds and shadows to my advantage to find some great depth and texture in my images. As a complement to this, while the wild Icelandic landscapes are often depicted as barren and bleak, snowfall adds wonderful detail and dimension to the dark volcanic rock.
