Colliford Lake Spikes

from £100.00

Colliford Lake is situated on Cornwall’s Bodmin Moor, and is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. I made a special trip to photograph the area, and during my recce I found these weathered tree limbs protruding from the water. I planned my return for the following day at sunrise when the low-level sun would cast a faint golden light onto their outstretched forms.

I took this photograph at a much closer range than typical landscape expanses, because I wanted the twisted skeletons of the dead trees to be the primary focus. The blended shadows of the trees into the surface of the water create an atmospheric fade that draws your eyes across the image.
